It has been a while since we had such warm temperatures, I could have sworn the last time we had sunny days was mid April!! That said, we finally embarked on the task of getting our vegetable garden started. Dickens had already tilled the soil a few times and getting some of our neighbours evergreen tree roots -- hehehe, killed in the process. The roots of their tree invaded our garden last year which made us all puzzled as to why our garden was not growing. We had new compost put in and also some fertilizer so that we can speed up the winter and fuzzy melons -- but as it turned out, we were really feeding our neighbours tree. The fence hid the tree so we have no clue that it was growing until this winter, we noticed that the height of their tree has surpassed the fence height -- of course, the growth spurt was the courtesy of our constant fertilizing!! I am sure that we have not killed every root that has sprouted from that tree...but we are determined not to have that in the way of our garden. In went the tomato plants, jalapeno peppers and in the flower garden, a carnation mix and some lavender.
After the garden was done, we had a quick lunch and it was off the enjoy the afternoon with a walk in the park -- Toogood Pond. The stroll was so nice, lots of people, cool breeze and took some outdoor pictures.
Next weekend...we are planning to go cross border shopping!! Can't wait!
